The last week or two I've experienced quite a bit of bloating/pain and even a little nausea. My body knows I'm in the second trimester, doesn't it? (as far as the nausea goes, anyways) The bloating can be quite painful at times, and it has made me eat less. Not terribly less, but less. Which I suppose is a good thing. I think I'm up 7-8 pounds so far.. I don't want to gain too much too fast. I still have about 24 weeks to go! I've got to space it out :P

I definitely felt the baby move now. No more guessing. It's not as much of a flutter anymore.

Jordan and I are in the midst of a discussion on whether to do cloth diapers this time. He's on the fence about it and keeps asking other what they think. I figure if we end up not liking it, we can just sell the diapers, so what's the harm? You're never going to know for sure unless you try it yourself. I'm mostly looking at the cost of them. They are much cheaper than disposable. (Even after you add the extra laundry costs, which aren't that much) And personally, I'd rather use a bit more water and detergent than add more disposables to the landfill.. which have yet to decompose. Did you know it'll most likely take 400 years (at least) for the diapers in the landfill to decompose? Gross. But like I said, I'm mostly wanting to get into it for the money saving.

I'm now 15 weeks along, and things are going well.

We've been to our midwife three times. We've heard the baby's heart beat a couple times. Today his/her heartbeat was between 142-144. Jack's heartbeat was always between 150-162.

I know this doesn't mean anything, but the Chinese baby gender calendar thing says we're having a girl. You never know, it was correct last time :P

I had a nose bleed the other day, which can be a random symptom in pregnancy. Considering I never get them, that's probably what it was. Other than that, I'm pretty symptom free at the moment. You know, the scary time when there's no symptoms and no for-sure movements so you wonder if the baby is ok? Luckily hearing the heartbeat helped with that :)

Ultrasound

My doctor ordered a dating ultrasound for me, even though I was pretty sure I knew how far along I was. We had it on March 29th. There's definitely a little baby in there! He/she was quite wiggly and active, and we even waving a little "limb bud" at us. Awww... It's hard to tell what's going on in the ultrasound photo because it's so small still.

We decided to announce the pregnancy after the ultrasound even though I'm only 10 weeks because there's a very good chance of thing going well once you see/hear the heartbeat - which was nice and strong!

Nothing new to report symptoms-wise. Not showing yet.

Nausea

So far this pregnancy has been a lot different than my first. I gag at almost anything. My sense of smell has increased, just like last time, but last time the smells didn't bother me. It doesn't help that I've had a bad cough for over a month now. The coughing definitely encourages the gagging. Even the thought of something previously making me gag makes me wanna gag.

In the last trimester last time, I had round ligament pain. I'm already getting them this time. But I have a feeling it has to do with the cough. But I'm definitely going to ask my midwife about it.

Our first midwife appointment is March 8th. I'm pretty excited.

In the last couple of days I found out that I have lupus. So far it's not effecting me that much, except for minor things like fatigue, headaches and anxiety. The only thing is that my specialist said that they are going to have to do ultrasounds on the baby from 18 weeks on just to make sure there no heart blockage which is a side effect of lupus. I think it's unnecessary in my "stage" of lupus. But we'll see what my GP says.. who will then refer me to a another specialist. And then we'll see what that person says.

Pregnant!

We found out on Valentine's day that we are expecting another baby. We weren't sure at first, because the tests quite coming up very faintly positive. Then we went to the doctor and the test they did said negative. They did it another one once I said that I had three faint positives and it came up positive.

I have booked my first midwife appointment for March 9th. Our regular midwife won't be there that day, but she'll still be our midwife. We'll just see the other one in the meantime.

As of today, I am 5 weeks along. We aren't telling too many people, yet.. for obvious reasons. We'll wait until we hear the heartbeat.

So far, I've only noticed a couple of symptoms. For about a week or two before I found out, I had been gagging when I breathed my teeth. I thought that was strange, but I didn't clue in. And there's been about two days where I felt mild nausea. And at certain times I can feel my uterus which is feeling firmer.

Today was Jack's first day at Daycare. He's only going 2 half days a week. Just enough to get some social time and let Jordan do whatever he needs to do for a couple of hours. Jack was so excited about it. He was constantly talking about it.

When we got there, Jack showed me around. The two of them had been there before to check it out, but I hadn't. It's really cute and well organized/managed. His "teacher" is Ruth. They request that the kids wear indoor shoes, but Jack wasn't into that. When we were getting ready to leave, Jack got pretty upset. And of course, then I started crying. I was probably way more upset than he was. It just really got to me that he didn't understand why we were leaving. :(

Jordan said when went to pick him up after lunch, Jack didn't want to leave. Which doesn't surprise me. He used to cry when we dropped him off at Grandpa's house too, and then he'd have a bunch of fun.

He did some colouring today, but Jordan forgot to bring them home. Apparently one is a picture of Mommy, Daddy, Jackson and Sheldon. lol.

Jackson's third birthday was a couple weeks ago. He had a nice family dinner on his actual birthday. He was pretty excited about "presents and cake!". Then the next day he had his friends over for a fun little kids party. A bunch of crazy preschoolers running around and playing. He's three, guys. Three.

Jackson had his first dentist appointment on Thursday. I couldn't go because I was at work. But Jordan said it went pretty good. Jack was a little reluctant getting in the dentist chair, but he eventually did. Then he didn't want to put on the apron, but then he did. Our dentist look at his teeth, and Jack bit him a couple times by accident :P Our dentist said that Jack has all his teeth and then there's good space in between them so there's less chance of cavities.

Tonight we were driving somewhere and Sheldon was in the car, too. He was meowing in his carrier and Jack kept saying, "It's ok Sheldon. We're almost home. It's ok." It was pretty cute.

Not much else that's is new. He's eating more than usual. He's growing taller. You know.

We have been planning to get a kitty for a while. My other kitty decided to hate Jordan and also needed to be an outdoor kitty once she got the taste for it. So she's now happily living at my mom's house. Big house, huge backyard, way too canned cat food - what more can a slightly anti-social cat ask for? :)

We went to the SPCA a couple times to play with the kitties. It helps that my cousin works there, so she showed us everything and told us about every cat. We wanted to make sure we spent a bit of time with them until we found the right one for us.

Enter "Grover". He's part siamese, part tuxedo. He has such a sweet personality. Loves attention, love playing, loves meowing. He even was crawling on Jack when we had our meeting with him. He likes being around our kid - super bonus. And he mostly doesn't play with his claws. Only when he's rough housing.

We loved him so much (not to mention he's just gorgeous) that we waited a couple of hours and ended up getting him that day. He has fit in so well here. After he did his initial looking around our place, he started playing, cuddling, cleaning himself.. he seemed quite comfortable here. He even was playing with Jack.

Jack was ecstatic when he woke up from his nap and there was a kitty in our house. Every time he meows (which is a lot because he's part siamese) Jack giggled so hard. Even when Jack's excitement gets to be a little too much for the kitty, he just runs away.. but then comes walking back to play with Jack. The kitty even came and sat with us on Jack's bed while Jack and I read stories before his nap. He's very social.

Super kitty.

But the name "Grover" had to go. We were not at all keen on it. We were stuck between two names - Toby (because Jack sounds so cute saying it) and Sheldon (from Big Bang Theory, who sings "soft kitty"). We decided to take it to facebook because we really couldn't decide. A third name got suggested that gathered a lot of interest - Kesler (as in Vancouver Canucks). But the same Sheldon won the vote.

Our little Sheldon.

Short updates

Jackson is obsessed with his Thomas the train toy. He brings it everywhere. When we go out, when we're at the dinner table, when he goes to the potty.. Everywhere.

Jack has also starting singing. We have the Wonder Pets soundtrack in the car, so he knows a lot of those songs and sings along. It's very cute. Ring around the rosie is a favourite, too. But that's probably because we get to fall down at the end.

We got him a sticker book because every time he comes to my work, he gets stickers from the ladies. Might as well put them somewhere!

We have a couple hockey books that we read to him at night. Jack now knows the logos of around 20/30 hockey teams lol. Whatever keeps him learning stuff!

Jack is three next month. THREE. What. How is our little boy that old already?

He still naps regularly. If we're in the car and it's around 1pm, you can see his eye lids get heavy. Lately if we ask him if he's sleepy, he'll say he is. He goes to sleep without a fuss. He's taking shorter naps than he used to, so he might be weaning himself off them that way.

We ran out of pull ups for when he sleeps at night, so the last couple of nights he has been wearing underpants to bed. First night he wet the bed in the morning. The second night he was dry. He can definitely hold it all night, and usually does. There's just the occasional time when he's in a deep sleep or something and doesn't seem to wake up when he has to pee.

The problem with buying a big Christmas present for someone early is that you want to just give it to them early. I tracked down a nice train table off of craigslist for Grandma to get Jack. We picked it up today. One of the little girls who lived there was "Don't give it away! No Mommy! Please don't give it away!" Made us feel awful! Like the anti-Santa! The parents insisted that the kids never used it anymore and that they just got a big art table. Jack was stoked. Then there was the decision: do we actually store it at Grandma's until Christmas and then have to borrow my dad's truck again to get it to our house? Or do we just bring it to our house now? Well, let's just say, Jack loves it :P He played with it all night.
Now, we get him wooden train tracks for Christmas :)

A game Jack likes to play is the "wake us up from sleeping" game. Simple rules: You pretend to sleep, he tickles your nose to "wake" you, you pretend to get upset, hilarity ensues, repeat.
